Alvin Dunston
Hello! I am writer.
I was born and raised in Mount Vernon, NY. I always enjoyed writing and began composing songs at an early age, before that I only wrote essays for school assignments and was pleased by the positive reactions from my teachers and classmates. While attending Mount Vernon High School, I won second place in a creative writing contest given by the Westchester Gazette, in the non-fiction category, which resulted in my essay, “What Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. means to me,” being published. I took the essay to the Black American newspaper in Harlem, NY, which is no longer in circulation, and was pleased when they also published it.
I dreamt of being a star in the music industry, but no record company would sign me, so I started my own record label, now defunct, “Allasia Records,” and published my songs which are currently available on Itunes, Spotify, and all other digital platforms, under the name AY-D. I published a book in 2019, under the name Alvin Bernard Dunston, called “Baby Girl” which is a biography based on a true story. Alvin’s Funnies is my first attempt at comedy, and I would like to thank all of the illustrators that worked with me.
